A 52-year-old woman who died after being found unconscious in the Thames near Gravesend Pier has been named as Kulbir Kaur Rai.

Mrs Rai of Lennox Road died at Darent Valley Hospital on May 10 after being pulled from the Thames by a lifeboat crew in the early hours of the morning.

Kent Police were called at 9.30pm on May 9 to a report of a concern for her welfare.

Gravesend RNLI lifeboat crews, Port of London Authority and police officers launched a man hunt to find the mother-of-three but sadly she was discovered, not breathing, at Gravesend Reach at 1.20am.

RNLI volunteers attempted to revive Mrs Rai using CPR before she was taken to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance (SECAMB) paramedics. 

A police spokesman said: "Her death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
