Former Gravesham mayor and council leader Frank Gibson has died aged 89.
Described by chief executive of Gravesham Borough Council David Hughes as "one of life's true gentlemen", Mr Gibson was mayor in 1985 and made an Honorary Freeman of the Borough in 1995.
He awarded the OBE in 1994 for his services to Kent County Council, and in 2009 was one of the first to be made an Honorary Alderman of KCC.
He was a trustee of two local charities, including the Elizabeth Huggins Cottages Charity Trust.

Mr Hughes said: “Frank made an enormous contribution to the work of the Borough Council and Kent County Council over many years and was most certainly one of life's true gentlemen.
"It is most fitting that in being made an Honorary Freeman of the Borough he was awarded the greatest honour the Borough Council can bestow.
“He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for many years to come.
“All our thoughts with will be with his family and close friends at this sad time.”
Mr Gibson is survived by his six children and 11 grandchildren.
