A cat found suffering serious injuries in Gravesend who won the hearts of News Shopper readers is on the mend.

News Shopper reported yesterday (April 7) that Oliver was found close to death in Raphael Road on April 2.

The poor moggy was suffering with a broken jaw and his lip torn away from his face so brutally that it had turned black.

After being taken in my Kent animal charity Anim-Mates, based in St Mary Hoo near Rochester, Oliver underwent surgery to wire his jaw back together.

The operation looks to have been a resounding success as the puss has wolfed down his first meal by mouth in six days at the Shrubbery Veterinary Centre.
