Planning to get away by train over the Easter weekend?

You might want to take a look at News Shopper’s guide to the serious disruption rail passengers are facing over the Easter holiday.

London Cannon Street, London Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations will all be closed due to engineering works from Good Friday to East Monday.

Instead, trains will run to and from New Cross, London Blackfriars or London Victoria.

Rail bosses have warned passengers to check before they travel as many other services have been diverted, cancelled or changed.

London Bridge will have a very restricted Southeastern service with trains running to and from Hastings only.

There will be no train service between Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill or Westcombe Park.

Replacement buses will operate between Lewisham and Charlton calling at Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park.

High speed services to and from London St Pancras via Gravesend and Rochester will start and terminate at Strood and Faversham.

Rail passengers can use the following routes at no extra cost to complete their journey:

  • London Underground between our London terminals and between Southwark, Embankment and Canada Water
  • London Overground between New Cross and Canada Water
  • DLR between Lewisham and Greenwich

Good Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4

An amended Saturday timetable will operate on these days.

No trains will operate between Swanley and Faversham and between Sittingbourne and Sheerness-on-Sea. Replacement bus services will run instead.

Trains to or from London Victoria will be diverted via Maidstone East to connect with replacement bus services.

Easter Sunday, April 5

An amended Sunday timetable will operate on these days.

No trains will run between Sole Street and Faversham, Gravesend and Maidstone West and Sittingbourne & Sheerness-on-Sea.

Trains to and from London Victoria will be diverted via Maidstone East and Sole Street to connect with replacement buses.

Trains between Tonbridge and Strood will only run between Tonbridge and Maidstone West.

Replacement buses will run between Meopham, Maidstone East, Gravesend and Faversham, Gravesend and Maidstone West and Sittingbourne and Sheerness-on-Sea.

Easter Monday, April 6

An amended Saturday timetable will operate on this day.

No trains will run between Sole Street and Faversham, Gravesend and Maidstone West and Sittingbourne & Sheerness-on-Sea.

Trains to and from London Victoria will be diverted via Maidstone East and Sole Street to connect with replacement buses.

Trains between Tonbridge and Strood will only run between Tonbridge and Maidstone West.

Replacement buses will run between Meopham, Maidstone East, Gravesend and Faversham, Gravesend and Maidstone West and Sittingbourne and Sheerness-on-Sea.

Trains which usually run to and from London Cannon Street and Gillingham will be diverted to and from London Victoria and will start and terminate at Gravesend.

TRAVELLING FURTHER AFIELD?

Major improvement works will affect trains between Watford Junction and London Euston from April 3-6.

Crossrail work will affect First Great Western services to and from London Paddington from April 3-12.

No trains will run between Ingatestone and Wickford and London Liverpool Street from April 5-6.
