Each week I share my five thoughts of the week – the good, the bad and the ugly.

But, I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say. Write to me using the details below.

1. I know they’re wrecking vacuum cleaners, but have the EU got their interfering hands on the dryers in toilets too? Have you noticed how rubbish they are now, you can be stood for ages while a few wisps of tepid air achieve nothing. Let’s get some power back where we need it.

2. My car broke down, so I took it to the local garage. I saw a bus and ran to jump on to get to work, only to be told: “Sorry luv, we don’t take money any more, you’ve got to buy an Oyster card.” Crazy, and all in front of the eyes of other passengers – so embarrassing. Thanks to Doreen for this thought.

3. A 1 per cent pay rise on top of 3 per cent incremental rises. NHS staff should think themselves lucky. And, pay frozen for just two years – people in the private sector are getting much less than this and haven’t had an increase for many more years.

4. As a youngster I loved bonfire night and Christmas. And I know it’s not just a kid thing as, to this day, my dad still loves them both. But for some reason I’ve lost all interest. I can only assume the commercialism for months in advance means that by the time they eventually happen I’ve had enough.

5. And, just to clarify, I’m not against lollipop people per se, just the ones on zebra crossings, where cars must stop anyway. And Mo, thanks for the thought, I am a parent and I do care if kids get knocked down.
