A trio of Northfleet residents have clubbed together in a bid to protect their homes - which lie in the midst of two huge planned redevelopments.

The self-proclaimed "task force," made-up of residents Sue Ansarie, Mandy Knight and Tony Patey - who have lived in Northfleet for a combined total of 28 years - launched on September 10.

The trio aim to act as a watchdog as plans for both the Paramount Park development and Ebbsfleet Garden City progress.

Both the £2bn theme park and the 15,000 home development would sit either side of the concerned residents' homes.

Mrs Ansarie, aged 40, of College Road said: "When I spoke to Mandy and Tony separately I discovered we all had the same concerns so we have formed a small, non-political ‘task force’ to make our stand immediately, keep an eye on plans and to demand a say in what goes on - and pushing for meetings with the movers and shakers.

"Suddenly we have become the focus of the most important, and far-reaching, commercial and residential plans in the country.

"We are surrounded by them - and we want to find out exactly how they might affect us and if they are going to be positive or negative for us.

"They could be fantastic for us, they could be bad for us - this could mean that our area is forgotten about or even sold as part of a compulsory purchase order. We need to know about any plans early on and be able to have a voice if necessary."

Fenlon Dunphy, on behalf of London Paramount, said: "I think it’s really positive that local people want to have a say and get involved. Over 2,000 came to our first round of consultation and we expect many more over the coming year. We look forward to meeting them and talking about the future."
