Tributes have been paid online to a beloved Gravesend drummer who was killed after being hit by a telegraph pole on Kingsnorth Industrial Estate in Hoo.

Christopher Crammond, aged 40, of The Droveway, Istead Rise, was fatally injured in the accident which happened on June 26 shortly after 8am.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said attempts were made to resuscitate him but Mr Crammond was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Crammond played the drums in metal band Designs of Chaos (DoC), based in south-east London.

The group's Facebook site has been inundated with tributes left by fans, friends and family members.

A post from Designs of Chaos said: "We lost a true legend of the metal world.

"Our drummer Chris was shockingly taken from us.

"He was the heart and soul of DoC and we are all devastated by this loss.

"Our hearts and thoughts are with his family and friends."

Mr Crammond's parents, Christine and Steve said: "Our son Christopher has been taken too soon leaving an incredibly empty space in our hearts and we will miss him so much.

"Life will never be the same.

"The amount of love coming out of the messages left by friends and family is overwhelming.

"Thank you seems such a couple of inadequate word for all your love and support for ourselves and Natalie but it's a word that's meant from deep within us."

Duncan Brown added: "It was the biggest pleasure knowing you Chris. You were a fantastic drummer and an inspiration. Can't imagine what the boys in DOC are going through at the moment. Keep rocking forever Chris."

And Jason Putter added: "Absolutely distraught beyond words to learn of this tragedy my brothers.

"Heart and soul be with you now, and wish you all the strength in the world to help you all in this devastating time.

"So loved and missed Mr C, is and always will be."

An inquest into the death was opened and adjourned at Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone yesterday.

The Health and Safety Executive said investigations into the accident are ongoing.
