Wanting to do something fun (and a bit stupid) to raise money for charity I decided to start a swap chain.
I began with a News Shopper keyring, which I traded for membership of a local archaeology group - and I have continued bartering my way through bigger and better items.
I eventually hope to trade something for a cash donation of at least £1,000 to be given to a good cause.
You can read about my little adventure in this section. If you want to contact me at any time – preferably with a swap offer – drop me a line at sbull@london.newsquest.co.uk

Next swap has huge funtential

TWO tickets to see legendary 80s pop superstar Tony Hadley in concert could be yours - if you offer something to swap for them.

It's true - Swap Shopper has gone gold.

The tickets to see Hadders, still going strong 25 years after Spandau Ballet's heyday, represent the third link in my swap chain.

I started with a humble News Shopper keyring, which I traded for a year's membership of Bexley Archaeology Group (BAG).

I have now swapped the BAG membership for the chance for two very lucky people to see the super crooner performing live.

I chose the tickets ahead of other offers because of their 'funtential' - a very clever word coined by Canadian 'one red paperclip guy' Kyle MacDonald.

The chance for two people to live out some musical nostalgia has such high funtential.

Eighties pop is so uncool that it is actually really cool, and the opportunity to see one of its leading figures in action is surely too good to turn down.

The tickets - for the November 27 gig at Shepherds Bush Empire - have been traded with a colleague here at Shopper HQ, who rather strangely wants to remain anonymous for her extremely generous contribution.

She is not yet sure what she will do with her newly acquired BAG membership.

My aim now is to trade the tickets on for something even bigger and better. I know, what could be better than these tickets, right? The chance to see Tony Hadley on stage. Awesome. But something out there has to be bigger and better, and I want it.

To make a swap offer for the tickets send me an email to sbull@london.newsquest.co.uk or give me a call on 01689 885713.

All offers gratefully received.

Any businesses which propose potential trades will get some free publicity out of their offers, even those which are ultimately unsuccessful.

For example, when I was choosing to accept the Tony Hadley tickets I also had another very tempting offer to consider.

Genine Patrick, who runs Head 2 Toe Pilates in Bexley Village, offered a free Pilates lesson or reflexology treatment. It was a kind offer and, though I didn't accept it this time, I hope the mention of your business is useful.

Swap Shopper is moving onwards and upwards, and the Tony Hadley tickets must be traded for it to move on further.

Remember Hadley. Tony Hadley. Live.

Now let the offers begin ...
