What would you change about the area?
I would change the planning of the area because Bluewater and Lakeside have killed town centres.
How has the area changed since you have been here?
The council has gradually pulled its socks up and tried to address the inherited problems. But there are some social problems which have not yet been addressed.
Do you make much use of the area's attractions?
I have hardly any time off and, when I do, I usually go out of the area.
Do you think countries with poor human rights records should be able to host events such as the Olympics?
Excluding countries will not help the situation. We should include and embrace developing countries and meet these people half way.
What is the worst thing which has happened to you since you started working in Gravesham?
It has never been easy living here but the worst thing was when my house got set alight.
What is the best thing which has happened to you since you started working in Gravesham?
Meeting the people I live and work with from Kings Farm.
They are great people and it is a privilege to be their priest.
Do you think the council is doing a good job?
It has a difficult legacy and a poor track record but at last they are trying and the area is improving.
What do you think of the town's public transport network?
The bus service is improving and the road and rail access is good, but there are few cycle routes.
Do you think there is a problem with anti-social behaviour in the area?
England has an anti-social problem. It is not exclusive to Gravesham. I think it is a better town than many.
If you were in charge of the area for one day, what would you do?
I would point people towards the community in some way and promote social cohesion.
Do you think regeneration is good for the area?
It is not necessarily a good thing as we lose our culture and great buildings for the construction of cheap houses.
What made you want to become a priest and why in Gravesham?
The bishop thought I would be the best person for the area. I have always been an active Christian but I became a priest 10 years ago.
Is there anything else you would like to say or get off your chest?
I believe spiritual moral values and family life are important and neglecting these issues will be at our peril.
