Gravesham voters have their say on AV voting system and council
10:42pm Thursday 5th May 2011 in Gravesham Elections By Sophie Maden
VOTERS in Gravesham have today entered their views on the way we vote.
As well as voting for the local candidates they want to see running Gravesham Council, residents have also been able to take part in a voting referendum, voting yes or no to the Alternative Vote system (AV).
If the referendum sees the nation vote for change, our long-standing first past the post system will be replaced with a system which allows second and third votes to be redistributed.
But Gravesham Council will not submit its local AV results to a regional base in Southampton until 6pm tomorrow (May 6) to coincide with vote counting across the country.
Once the votes have been verified, the results will be available to view at aboutmyvote.co.uk/referendumresults.
