From Mr G Bills
SIR. I read with interest Mr Reg Bottomley's comments concerning housing issues (March 15, 2006).
The problems relating to housing shortages in London was a feature of that overdeveloped overpopulated urban sprawl long before 1997.
The issues concerning over-development in Surrey are a continuation of Surrey's policy of allowing London's expansion into the country, which has also been taking place for many years while the present Government's policies are certainly making matters worse.
Surrey will continue to be subject to over-development until Surrey County Council decides that the county should no longer be regarded as a source of land for London's unsustainable growth.
MR G BILLS, Foxwarren, Claygate
