A NEW Sikh temple for Gravesend is taking shape but project leaders still need more money to finish the building.
Much of the cash being used to build the Siri Nanak Darbar Gurdwara was raised from community donations.
So far £3m has been spent on the building, which is under construction on the Holy Trinity Fields, Khalsa Avenue, and also on Indian granite and marble which will be laid outside the temple.
Volunteers and developers are now working on the interior of the building and the outdoor facilities.
When finished the temple will offer a sports hall and an educational centre with a computer suite, a library, exhibition space and a creche.
However, £6m is needed to finish the building and it will be at least another two years before the temple is finished.
