YOUNGSTERS will have the chance to write the story for a book launched by Kent County Council (KCC).

A book for each of the 12 districts of Kent will travel from school to school with pupils writing their own contribution to continue the tale.

The first chapter of Dartford's version of The Kent Story was read to pupils at Gateway Primary School, in Milestone Road, Dartford, by cabinet member Councillor Mark Dance.

KCC leader Councillor Paul Carter, who wrote the opening chapter of each book, said: "I am especially intrigued to see where each of the 12 books go with the story and I look forward to reading each and every one of them."

Once all 12 books are finished, they will be displayed at County Hall in Maidstone and then in libraries across the county.

Updates on the stories are available at kent.gov.uk
