SCHOOLCHILDREN were rewarded with a bench for their recycling efforts.
Pupils at Langafel Church of England Primary School in Longfield were given the colourful plastic bench by builders Ward Homes, who are building The Chase development in Main Road, Longfield.
First the children had to fill a plastic collection container, which was delivered a week before.
The challenge was part of Recycle Week, which begins on Monday (June 18), and the bench was made from 572 recycled milk bottles.
Headteacher Catherine Woodbine said: “The pupils really enjoyed taking part in the project and it was a great way to get them excited about recycling.
“We’d like to thank Ward Homes for organising the project and especially for the brightly coloured bench; it really has been a key attraction for the children at play time, as well as giving them a sense of achievement knowing that they contributed to creating it.”
