POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Crayford early on Friday morning.

Officers were called to a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta in Perry Street - near the junction with Iron Mill Lane.

The incident is believed to have taken place sometime before 1am.

London Ambulance Service attended and the 23-year-old driver of the Fiesta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Next of kin have been informed but police are awaiting formal identification.

A post-mortem is due to take place at the Princess Royal Hospital on Tuesday.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Catford are leading the enquiry and are appealing for witnesses.
