Kent Police save 16 children from online abuse
OVER the past year Kent Police has saved 16 children suspected of being sexually abused after finding their images online.
The Child Exploitation Investigation Team (CEIT) targets all forms of child abuse, from the sharing and production of child abuse images to protecting children from online predators.
The team has changed its focus, by trying to identify those children who have been victims in order that they can have closure when the offenders are brought to justice and further victims can be found.
Head of the unit, Detective Inspector Matthew Long, said: "The department has become a leader in its field and is renowned as such throughout the country.
"I am delighted with the results that we have seen, safeguarding more children every year and bringing increasing numbers of offenders to justice."
