Northfleet residents will have the chance to comment on plans to build a riverside development including 450 new homes in the Grove Road area.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is currently looking at a project to transform the area, near Ebbsfleet United Football Club, with housing, restaurants, improved roads and a new park.

EDC hopes that up to one third of the homes will be affordable.

The new homes are in addition to 530 already approved as part of Ebbsfleet Garden City in Northfleet West last year.

Now the plans will be put to the public to have their say, with a six-week consultation to begin on June 18.

Residents can submit their comments at ebbsfleetdc.org.uk/groveroad/

EDC is also holding two events where people can look through proposals in more detail and speak to officers.

The first of these will be held at Ebbsfleet United FC from 10am-2pm on Saturday, June 23. The second will be at Northfleet Veterans Club from 2-8pm on Friday, July 13.

Ian Piper, chief executive of EDC, said: “Working closely with Gravesham Council, we believe this part of Northfleet has enormous potential but we want to find out if the public, particularly those living near that area, share the same view.

"We want to hear people’s views on how to develop the area to maximise its potential, including how the local community can benefit.

“If they and the businesses in that area share our ambition, the riverfront along Northfleet could become another thriving community within Ebbsfleet Garden City with the existing plans already approved at Northfleet East and West for hundreds of new homes, a school and business space.”
