Britain is in for a heatwave this weekend but do not expect much sun to accompany the warmer weather.

Southerly winds will bring temperatures in the high teens in the next week but that will not stop the April showers..

The good news is that this weekend should see temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in the south as we wave goodbye to a harsh Easterly wind.

The bad news is that despite the nicer weather slowly filtering through, we are going to get a lot of rain and cloud.

A Met Office weatherman said: "By the end of the week we will have lost that nagging Easterly wind and so it will feel much warmer."

We should get some sunny spells late Friday and over the weekend but it is very unlikely to last for long.

He went on to say that this week will be a wet one but the showers should disperse over the weekend.

Despite this weekend hitting temperatures in the high teens, it is likely to be very overcast and misty.

If you are going out this weekend, make sure to take your suncream (and an umbrella) with you just incase, you never know we might get lucky.
