Bonfire night is long now and its clearly time to start thinking about Christmas.

The Christmas lights in Dartford are set to be switched on Saturday November 18, marking the countdown to the festive period.

The town will be lit up by none other than pantomime star Louie Spence, who is one of the stars in Cinderella along with Michelle Collins at the Orchard Theatre.

Louie will be joined by Mayor of Dartford Rosanna Currans and, of course, Father Christmas.

Councillor Patsy Thurlow, cabinet member for events said: "We can’t wait for this year’s fantastic Christmas lights switch on and look forward to seeing everyone gather in the High Street for the festivities. The Christmas Lights are a brilliant way to see in the festive season and every year there are spectacular scenes as the town is covered with paper snow! We hope you can join us for what promises to be another wonderful event.”

As well as the big switch on there will be family entertainment and giveaways in the town centre, as well as a treasure hunt with a prize of tickets to Cinderella.

The lights will be switched on at 5.15pm on November 18, and build up starts at 2pm with a live performance from Five After Midnight.
