A drug dealer who stabbed a man seven times during a drug deal that went wrong and left him bleeding in the street has been jailed for 12 years.

Wilfred Saye, of Howbury Avenue in Erith, stabbed his victim four times in the torso and three times in the leg before walking away when they met on March 31.

Saye, 20, who had a two foot machete in his bedroom, met the victim near Dartford station to sell him drugs.

The pair met in Station Approach and began to argue, leading Saye to stab him seven times.

Detective Sergeant Adam Marshall, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “Saye has shown himself to be a violent offender with a dangerous lack of ability to control himself.

“For all he knew, he had left the victim to die in the street. He showed little remorse for this and continued to live his normal life until he was arrested a month later.”

The victim called 999 himself to report his injuries before a passer-by found him bleeding heavily and took over.

He took over the call and performed first aid before police arrived.

An ambulance arrived within a minute of the call and rushed the victim to hospital, at the time his injuries were feared to be life threatening.

DS Marshall said: “I welcome the sentence that has been passed by the judge and hope it shows other violent offenders that we will not shy away from using all resources at our disposal to ensure they are brought to justice.

“My officers and I would also like our gratitude to the members of the public who provided vital first aid to the man while he was injured in the street.”

Forensic officers found a knife sheath close to the scene which had Saye’s DNA on it.

CCTV showed Saye arriving at the station at 10.46pm, ten minutes before the victim’s 999 call and then leaving at the time the call was made.

When police searched Saye’s house they found a two foot machete and a hunting knife in his bedroom along with another three knives.

They also found trainers with the victim’s blood on and 86 wraps of heroin and 18 wraps of crack cocaine, along with drug scales.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possessing class A drugs with intent to supply at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday July 28. He was sentenced on the same date.
