Despite being somewhat overshadowed by the snap general election, there is still a Kent County Council elections next week.  

County councils are responsible for services such as education, transport and social care – as well as in Kent’s case maintaining 8,500 km of roads.

With the polls quickly approaching, here is what you need to know.

How do I vote?

In person

Take the polling card that you will have been sent to your polling station which can be found here. Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.

By proxy

You can send someone else to vote on your behalf if are away on polling day, have a medical issue or disability or are away because of work or military service.

The deadline to apply for proxy has passed but if you have an emergency that means you cannot go to the polling station in person, you can apply for an emergency proxy up to 5pm on 4 May.

The polls open on Thursday, May 4, at 7am and close at 10pm.
