A heartbroken mother has paid tribute to her “incredibly talented” daughter following her death on Friday (March 17) after she was hit by a train.

Georgia Walsh, 16, from Swanley, died at Dunton Green station in Kent shortly after 8pm.

In a British Transport Police statement Georgia’s mum, Jenny Connell said: “Georgia was incredibly talented, very artistic and dedicated.

“She was so funny, very quick witted and incredibly brave and we are enormously proud of her. Georgia is loved dearly.”

Georgia has left behind her mum, Jenny Connell, her younger sister and two brothers.

Georgia’s father, Richard Walsh, and his wife Joe Walsh are being supported by their own network of family and friends.

Ms Connell said: “Our thoughts go out to the driver of the train.

“Georgia wouldn’t have taken this decision lightly and we hope with support, the driver will come to terms with what has happened and find peace.”

The family has received an enormous amount of support from social media.

Friend Samantha Butler has set up a JustGiving page to raise money to help pay for Georgia's funeral.

In a post on the funding page, Samantha wrote: “We're raising £3,600 to help fund funeral costs for Georgia Walsh, a funny, beautiful young girl, who is now at peace.

“Georgia has left behind her single mum and her three siblings, we are trying to raise money to help with funeral costs to relieve any additional stress in their time of grief.”

The funding page has reached its target in under one day with over £4,000 being raised by over 150 donators.
