Kent Police has released details of people from Dartford sentenced at Medway Magistrates’ Court last week.

David Smart, of Spring Vale in Greenhithe, was sentenced on February, 7, after pleading guilty to burglary.

The 25-year-old broke into a lock-up in Trebble Road, Swanscombe, and stole electrical cables, wires, metal fittings and tools worth £750 on November 14, 2016.

Magistrates sentenced Smart to 28 days in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £750 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Joseph Ebdon, 25, of Wellcome Avenue in Dartford, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and was sentenced on February 7.

Ebdon assaulted a police officer in Wellcome Avenue on January 22.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Karen Higgs was sentenced on February, 9 after pleading guilty to three counts of shoplifting.

The 39-year-old, of St Martin’s Road, Dartford, stole meat, washing powder and chocolate worth £37 from a shop in Henderson Drive, Dartford, on October 19, 2016.

On January 15 this year she stole £1,155 worth of clothes from a shop in Ashford. Two days later she stole chocolate bars and air fresheners worth £240 from a shop in Longfield.

Magistrates sentenced Higgs to 150 days in prison. She must also pay £1,432 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Derek Neville, 20, was sentenced on February 10 after he pleaded guilty to two counts of handling stolen goods.

Neville, of Wodehouse Road, Dartford, handled a stolen Yamaha Vity moped worth £1,000 in Erith.

Five months later, on February 5 he handled a stolen Yamaha FZ600 worth £1,000 in Greenhithe.

Magistrates sentenced Neville to 240 days in prison. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
