A fire ripped through a two-storey warehouse in Dartford.

The inferno raged for more than 15 hours in Powder Mill Lane yesterday morning (September 25).

Around 30 firefighters battled the blaze which started just before 12.30am.

A gas leak at the building stopped crews from dealing with the flames initially but they were eventually able to cut through to the roof of the warehouse.

At its peak six fire engines battled the flames on the first floor where the blaze is believed to have started.

Firefighters and a specialist team rescued essential items in the building, including computer hardware.

Crews continued damping down the fire and checking for hotspots once the major threat had been averted.

The gas and electricity supplies to the building were also isolated.

The property was boarded up, secured and handed back to the business owner at 3.41pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Kent Fire and Rescue has been working alongside Kent Police to determine the likely cause of the blaze.

An investigation is underway.
