There are currently five-mile delays and intermittent lane closures at the Dartford Crossing after a crash this morning.

Traffic was queueing for ten miles during the morning rush hour and drivers have been experiencing continuous long delays all day.

The tunnel was originally blocked just after 6am for about 15 minutes, due to an accident between junction 31 and juntion 30 and queues reach over the Dartford Crossing.

On the Essex side, Highways England are carrying out repair work after a collision caused nearside barrier damage above the live lane of the roundabout that runs underneath junction 31.

They have advised drivers planning to use the M25 at the Dartford Crossing and roads leading to it to seek alternative routes.

The vehicles involved in the crash were recovered quickly and there are now two lanes open past the scene, with one still closed for repairs.

On the Kent side, there is congestion on the M25 to junction 3 of the M20 and A20 at the Swanley Interchange.

There are additional holds (in one or both sides) to prevent queueing inside the tunnels.

The Blackwall Tunnel has also been affected, with long delays for drivers heading through it.
