A man has been charged following a stabbing at a mental health centre in Dartford which left two members of staff seriously injured.

The incident happened at the Bracton Centre, run by the Oxleas NHS Trust, at about midday on Sunday (July 17).

Myha Grant, 30, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

He will appear before Medway magistrates today (July 19).

The injured staff are both men and remain in hospital where their condition is described as being serious but stable.

The incident was contained within the centre and there was no risk to the wider public.

An Oxleas spokesman said: "There was a serious incident at the Bracton Centre, medium secure mental health unit, on Sunday July 17.

"Two of our members of staff sustained injuries during this incident. They are in hospital receiving treatment and we have been informed that they are in a serious but stable condition.

"We are offering support to patients and staff affected by the incident, and to the families of our two colleagues who were directly involved.

"A police investigation is underway and a patient from the Bracton Centre has been charged.

"We are unable to provide further details at this time due to the ongoing police investigation."
