A flaming car created big traffic jams and long delays on the A2 near Bluewater earlier today.

Two lanes  were closed between the Bean Interchange (B255) and Darenth Interchange (M25 J2) after a Ford Galaxy went up in smoke just before 11am.

London-bound traffic was held up while the fire was put out just before 11.30am.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that after more than 30 minutes tackling the blaze they handed control of the situation over to Highways England who have since reopened all lanes.
