Kent may once again enjoy all night street lighting, when the new LED lamps are installed.
The option, preferred by 63 per cent of residents, will be considered by Kent County Council (KCC) next week.
Work to convert the county's 118,000 street lights will begin next month - and is expected to take three years and two months.
Once completed, the new energy-efficient bulbs will save taxpayers £5.2m a year.
The findings of last year's 10-week consultation, in which just 37 per cent of the 3,700 respondents said they preferred night lighting at its current level, will be debated at a meeting of the Environment and Transport Committee a week today (February 12).
TODAY'S TOP STORIES:
KCC cabinet member for Environment and Transport Matthew Balfour said: "Now we are in a position to both make savings and respond positively to the views expressed in the LED street lighting consultation, we can now recommend that we adopt all night lighting.
"This could happen once a street light has been converted to LED and is commissioned on to a central management system.
"The CMS technology will allow us to consider requests from the community to alter the pattern of lighting levels."
