A Swanley couple are counting themselves lucky after an “ice bomb” fell just a metre away from their house.

Kevin Spencer, 59, of Conifer Way, claims if he or his wife Claire were outside when it happened then they would have died.

The scene of the bomb after it hit the garden

The “ice bomb” came crashing down in their back garden at 7.30am on Friday (January 29) and gave the NHS worker and his partner a huge shock.

Mr Spencer told News Shopper: “The crater is massive and the ice bomb must have fallen from an aircraft.

“They normally fall from planes in the countryside but we were the unlucky ones.

“The noise was incredible and it was like a real life bomb, an explosion. The novelty of it landing in our garden has worn off now but it was crazy.

“We count ourselves very lucky because if anyone had been under the bomb when it fell, they would’ve died.”

Mr Spencer also spoke about the damage that the supposed bomb left in their garden.

He added: “The crater is about a foot deep.

“Not only is there now a big hole, our greenhouse has lost a couple panes of glass, too.

“It took over an hour to clear all the mess up. It didn’t even disappear the following day because of the weather.”
