Gravesham and Dartford’s hairdressers are now part of a flaming new initiative to help cut through the myths of fire safety.

18 hair professionals across both boroughs have signed up to a smoking hot plan to raise awareness of the free advice being dished out by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS).

On top of the customer’s trim, information about KFRS’ “Safe and Well Visit” will be handed out to residents from this month - including the news that they could have their homes fitted with smoke alarms.

During the visit, KFRS are offering residents the opportunity to learn about obtaining additional support and services too.

Gravesend’s hairdressers, Tania’s, based in Singlewell Road, is one such business who have jumped on board with the scheme.

Manager Tania Faro-Bance said: “This is a brilliant idea.

“We’re a long established business, having been here for 20 years - we have a large local clientele from all walks of life and all ages.

“We know our customers and who might benefit from the extra free help on offer from the fire service.

“We also have the ideal opportunity to spread the message far and wide during our normal working day to help keep local people safe.”

Over 100 barbers and hairdressers across Kent have signed up to work with Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) on the “Haircare Network” project which primarily aims to keep people safe from the risk of fire in their homes.
