Rail services across south London are disrupted after a man was found dead on the tracks near Waterloo East station this morning (October 2).

Emergency services were called at around 7.25am to a report of a body on the line close to the station.

British Transport Police and London Ambulance Service paramedics attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers face delays on Southeastern services until at least 12pm.

Police closed two lines near Waterloo East and Cannon Street to investigate how the man ended up on the tracks and lines reopened at around 9am.

The incident is being treated as unexplained and police are in the process of informing the man's family.

London Bridge station was severely overcrowded following the incident and a signal failure at the station on the Jubilee Line caused further congestion for passengers.

Bank and Monument stations were also closed after they became dangerously packed with commuters.
