A crash involving four vehicles at the entrance of the Dartford Tunnel caused major delays yesterday.
Kent Fire and Rescue used hydraulic equipment to free one trapped casualty.
A Kent Police spokeswoman said the incident was reported to have involved four vehicles in the east bore tunnel.
The crash closed both tunnels until around 7.40pm whilst emergency services were dealing with casualties.
South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics attended and took one man to a London hospital.
His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
