Thieves who scaled a 8ft high fence in a 'targeted attack' stole two mountain bikes worth more than £8,000 from a shed in Sutton-at-Hone.

The bikes were stolen in an overnight break in on June 20 when burglars made their way over the fence into the garden on Devon Road.

Homeowner Basil Bannayi, 50, had come back from a day out mountain biking when he put the two bikes back into the locked shed.

The next morning he found the shed door had been removed and the bikes, one of which was brand new, were gone.

Mr Bannayi said: "I just glanced up my garden to where my bike shed is. The door had been unscrewed at the hinges.

"Whoever did this basically has thought about it quite a lot. They have scaled the railings, unscrewed the shed doors in the middle of the night. The police reckon it was a targeted attack."

Kent Police confirmed that Mr Bannayi reported the stolen bikes to them, worth £4,000 and £4,600.

The keen mountain biker has since upgraded the security on his shed, but hopes to prevent the stolen bikes from being sold on.
