A Dartford rugby team have kicked their dignity into touch in a hilarious naked calendar as part of a fundraising effort in memory of their captain's late best friend.

Dartfordians Saints (4th team) and Dartfordians Sinners (Veterans), both based in Bourne Road, Bexley, use just rugby balls to cover their modesty in pictures that give the cast of Calendar Girls a run for their money.

The men were more than happy to ditch their kits for birthday suits to raise funds for Gravesend hospice, Ellenor, in memory of Lucy Jones, ex wife of Saint's captain, Dave Jones.

The mother-of-two died last year aged 44 following a battle with cancer.

Mr Jones said: "We originally took the pictures to use during my captain's speech but we decided to put them together in a calender to raise money for Ellenor.

"It's all very fitting, when I was rehearsing my speech the previous year Lucy was the one laughing in all the right places, we had split up but she was my best friend.

"I really appreciate everything that Ellenor have done - they really have been amazing.

"Dartfordians have been like a second family in the way they have supported myself and my daughters."

Players also donned dresses and high heels for the cheeky shoot based on photos of vintage beauties like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

The 43-year-old, who also coaches for Darfordians, joked: "A few of them are a bit too convincing, it's quite worrying."

The calendar, brain child of Mr Jones, Vice Captain Lewis Couchman and Ricky Phillips, has been widely supported by local businesses.

Mr Jones said: "The paper was supplied by free by Elliott Baxter Paper Merchant' and the printing by Aspect Press Limited and Ricky took the pictures.

"It was all done in house so we have no overheads all the money will go to Ellenor."

Copies of the 'Saints and Sinners' calender will be available at the Dartfordians Clubhouse in Bourne Road, Bexley from September costing £5 each.
