Work on improvements to Crayford roads is due to start on Monday (May 18).

Temporary traffic lights will be put in place at the junctions of London Road and Bourne Road and London Road and Bexley Lane, in Crayford for work on gas supplies.

Bourne Road will be closed at its junction with London Road from June 8 for 13 weeks, when signposted diversions will be in place via Watling Street and Gravel Hill.

Temporary traffic signals will operate at the junction.

The work which includes re-aligning the entry and exit of Bourne Road into T-junction layout, installing a mini-roundabout and resurfacing the area on the south side of the junction between Bourne Road and Bexley Lane aims to ease traffic problems, reduce queues and improve road safety.

A spokesman for Bexley Council said: "Work has been planned so that the majority of construction is carried out during the school summer holidays, when traffic is lighter.

"Large signs will be put in place in the area to warn road users about the start of the work.

"London Borough of Bexley apologises for any inconvenience caused by these improvement works."

The scheme is being funded by Transport for London, with an additional contribution from the Council.
