The 250kg bomb unearthed in Southwark was transported last night.

Schools and houses in the blast range had to be evacuated after the German 'SA' bomb was discovered on Monday (March 23).

MORE TOP STORIES It was deemed safe to transport by the Army yesterday (March 24), who took it to a military quarry in Kent. 

Road closures were lifted and people were allowed back to their homes after sleeping in makeshift shelters such as leisure centres. 

Measuring five foot long and weighing 1000lbs, crews from the London Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade worked together to make the area safe and assist residents.
