A Dartford actress is making waves Stateside just weeks after flying across the Atlantic to study in LA.

Louisa Faye, 25, arrived in the US six weeks ago to continue her acting training at the Michelle Danner School of Acting and has already found herself starring in a short film, a 'sizzle reel' for a potential pilot and signed up for a hush-hush film project that starts shooting next month.

The short film already in the bag is titled How to be Lonely and Depressed, but it would seem Louisa is anything but in her new surroundings.

She said: “Shooting out here is so much fun. You get used to it pretty quickly, having the camera about and being on set.

“Everyone is so professional that you just go with it. For the first 10 minutes I was nervous and then you just get excited about what it’s going to look like and what the director will ask of you.”

Louisa’s acting journey started when mum Lyn enrolled her at the Miskin Theatre’s youth programme aged nine when the family moved from Bean to Dartford and wanted her to make more friends.

MORE THEATRE AND COMEDY

Louisa said: “I was also singing and dancing about the house by myself – only child syndrome. I have a big brother but being 19 years older, he wasn’t keen on joining my Spice Girls band in the garden.”
When she was 11, she joined the Orchard Youth Theatre, under the guidance of Bill Davies, and knew acting was for her when she left school.

After her A-levels, she studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama which produced talent such as Anthony Hopkins, Gavin and Stacey writer Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon and Fresh Meat’s Kimberley Nixon.

Once she had graduated, she moved back to London – living in Hither Green for a while – and appeared in a play and a short film as well as securing high-level auditions for the Royal Court, the Young Vic and the BBC.

She said: “Despite a good set up in Hither Green, I was still yearning to explore Hollywood.

“It was incredible hard leaving home. My best friend came around to see me before I left and neither of us could even look at each other for long enough because we’d just burst into tears.”

But now she’s out in LA, she’s got the bit firmly between her teeth and a close-knit group of friends.

She said: “While I’m in LA I want to keep pushing myself. I want to take on some challenging roles and really explore the industry out here.
“Being here, even for six weeks, has proved to me that I am a hardworker and I should really put on my own work back in London. Why not?”
