Crayford's Barclays bank branch closed on Friday (Feb 13) leaving the centre of the town without a single bank or ATM.

Customers reacted with anger last November when News Shopper revealed the branch was closing, due to a decline in use.

Bexleyheath and Crayford MP David Evennett also revealed his disappointment over the closure.

Barclays has run the branch in Crayford Road since 1968 but says a drop in customers is behind the decision.

A spokesman told News Shopper in November: "At Barclays in Crayford customer usage has declined by 37 per cent and around 75 per cent of customers regularly use alternative branches, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close the branch.

"Our colleagues at the store have been consulted about the changes and will transfer to other branches nearby."
