Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there are times when you need something properly special, you know, like to take the edge off a hangover or build yourself up for a big day.

In honour of the forthcoming National Breakfast Week (January 25 to 31), we asked our Twitter chums for their advice on the best places to get breakfast in north Kent and south east London. These are the results.

News Shopper:

Petts Wood Cafe

Where? West Approach, Petts Wood

Open: 7am Monday to Saturday, 9am Sunday

Nominated by: News Shopper (@NewsShopper)

Why? Is Petts Wood Cafe the purveyor of one of the finest breakfasts in south east London? Possibly, possibly not. But it is our local and, as such, this addition to the list represents your local. It may not be a glittering palace of morning feasting, but Petts Wood Cafe is comfortable, friendly, run by absolute diamonds and serves up tasty nosh at a low price. So does your local, probably.

What should I have? Set 3 (pictured): eggs, bacon, sausage, bubble, beans, a slice of toast and a cuppa for £4.80.
