An Orpington woman has launched an online petition to have a fence put up around the River Medway.

It was created just hours after the family of Greenhithe's Patrick Lamb confirmed that his body had been found in Cuxton Marina on January 10.

The petition, set up by Cathleen Breen from Orpington, has attracted 1,928 supporters since it was created.

In an open letter to Medway Council, Ms Breen says: "The River Medway is an extremely deadly place.

"An appropriate fence or a wall needs to be erected around The River Medway to prevent more tragic and unnecessary deaths."

Mr Lamb, from London Road, sparked a county-wide search when he disappeared during a night out in Maidstone on December 13.
