Bean residents have voiced their concern over proposed plans to turn farmland into a permanent site for travellers.

The plans propose that a 6.3 hectare site at Drudgeon Farm in School Lane changed from agricultural land to a permanent site for 'Travelling Showpeople'.

Agents Cunnane Town Planning submitted the plans to Dartford Council on behalf of Mr J Castle.

More than 90 residents, including representatives from Bean Primary School and nearby Longfield and New Barn Parish Council have voiced their concerns over the plans - sending letters of objections to the council.

In a letter of objection, Stephen Bonner, Chair of Governors at Bean School said: "The safety of children is a major concern as School Lane in a narrow lane and the entrance to Drudgeon Farm is opposite where many parents park to drop off/pick up their children as well as many children having to walk past the entrance.

"Any increase in traffic, especially large show vehicles will increase the risk of serious accident."

Residents can post their views on the proposal at Dartford Council's website.
