DARTFORD’S Air Cadets showed off their skills and talents at an open day on Saturday.

There were drill displays, archery demonstrations and performances from the 1051 Squadron’s band as members of the public enjoyed the chance to find out more about the cadets.

Committee member Lisa Marchant said: “We must have had about 30 people come along last year.

“This year we decided to do it again and turnout was a lot better, we were really pleased.

“It was busy all afternoon - we were due to finish at 4pm but didn’t end until about 4.20pm.

“We have had a few new children join following so it has done what it has set out to do.”

The Air Cadets, a part of the Royal Air Force (RAF), is open to youngsters aged between 13 and 19.

Membership aims to encourage an interest in the RAF and provide training that will be useful in everyday life as well as in the services.
