A CAR crashing into two toll booths is to blame for serious delays across the Dartford Bridge this week – but the end of the queues may now be in sight.

Motorists travelling clockwise from Essex into Kent have faced delays since the weekend as two of the 13 toll booths have been shut for emergency repairs.

The accident, which it is believed happened over the weekend, has resulted in the number of auto-tolls dropping from five to four and one of the manned tolls has been out of action too.

A Highways Agency spokesman confirmed this afternoon the two toll booths – which are numbers two and three on the left hand side – will be repaired tonight.

They will re-open at 6am in the morning, ahead of Thursday morning’s rush hour.

Queues into Kent stretched back beyond junction 29 at Lakeside during the morning and evening rush hour on Monday and Tuesday, causing delays of up to 45 minutes.
