A COUPLE from Dartford charged in connection with the murder of Kevin McKinley have appeared in court.

Michaela Sargeant, 24, of Overy Street, is accused of gunning down the 32-year-old in the street on Tuesday night.

She appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday via video link and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court tomorrow. (Tues)

Her partner Lewis Wickenden, of the same address, stood in the dock charged with possessing a firearm, namely a semi-automatic single-barrel shotgun and possession of ammunition, namely shotgun carriages, both without firearms certificates.

The 25-year-old also faced a charge of assisting an offender.

He will return to the same court for a committal hearing on Friday.

Emergency services were called to Overy Street at shortly before 8pm on Tuesday and found the 32-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The victim had gone into cardiac arrest and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital where he died of his injuries.
