A SWANLEY Council meeting grew heated as councillors discussed the recent departure of town clerk Brian Daley.
The debate was given added spice by the leaking of the confidential Wilkins report to the press in October which set out to save the council £60,000.
The report recommended Mr Daley’s roles as town clerk and chief executive should be merged with that of chief financial officer.
At the full council meeting last Wednesday (NOV 28) the Mayor of Swanley, Councillor Victor Southern, said Mr Daley left by mutual consent on October 29.
Cllr Southern said Mr Daley agreed his contract be voluntarily terminated when it was decided he should go on leave until its formal ending on January 6.
He added: "I've provided Mr Daley with an employment reference written in such terms as to ease his passage into any other position suited to his many talents and achievements."
