Driver arrested after Erith fish roundabout incident

A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in Erith this morning (June 21) after driving a car across the fish roundabout.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, missed the fish sculpture and was stopped by police at the edge of Bronze Age Way and Bexley Road at around 1.30am.

A lot of engine oil leaked on to the road from the car during the incident so firefighters were called to put sand down to soak up the liquid.

The crew from Erith fire station was at the scene for around 30 minutes.

That's the second time that I know of the fish has been hit.

The first one was a guy who drove straight into it trying to kill himself. He then jumped off one of the tower blocks in Thamesmead a few weeks later apparently.

How very sad that people who do need help never seem to be able to access it to help get themselves better.

So sad for their family too.

Don't know how they can say Police Stopped the car driver....it was imbedded in the wall of the subway and the only emergency vehicle on scene was an Ambulance when I went past on my way home from work at nearly 2am.

lol .. love the fish jokes!!! ..

that fish though is awful, it cost a fortune, it was damaged by a car.. then repaired by the crap artist who then charged a fortune, plants and bushes would have been money better spent!!
