Construction company fined for unsafe working practices
A CONSTRUCTION company has been fined for unsafe working practices on its Forest Hill site.
Anza Ltd was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive after inspectors found serious safety issues during two visits to a domestic construction site on Honor Oak Road in 2009.
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard on May 16 that the firm was served with a prohibition notice about managing the risk of falls.
Inspectors later found that there were insufficient measures in place to protect workers from falls and a second notice was served.
Anza was found guilty in absentia of breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act, Work at Height Regulations and Construction Regulations.
The company, now in liquidation, was fined £15,000 and ordered to pay full costs of £6,752.
Inspector Abosede Ogunsekan said: "Serious safety breaches were continued by this construction company which could have resulted in serious injuries".
