POLICE investigating the murder of a cab driver have appealed for help on television to find his killer.

Plumstead father-of-two Michael Okonko-Nwosu, known as Uche, was found by a milkman collapsed in the street at the back of his minicab in Cookhill Road, Abbey Wood, at 4.47am on June 19.

Mr Okonko-Nwosu, who worked for Amber Cars in Plumstead High Street, had finished his last job in nearby Sewell Road at around 4.40am.

The doors of his Ford Galaxy, with the registration ND52 DJX, were open and it appeared that nothing had been stolen.

He was taken to Royal London Hospital where he died later that day from head injuries.

Police turned to the BBC’s Crimewatch programme yesterday (July 5) to appeal for more information.

Mr Okonko-Nwosu’s wife Catherine, with whom the victim had two young daughters aged 18 months and three years, had also been due to appear but was too upset to do so.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Manning, from the Met Police’s homicide and serious crime command, told viewers: “The person or persons responsible for this are extremely violent.”

He said there were other people in the area at the time who had still not come forward.

And he said: “I’d like to appeal for whoever may be harbouring this person.

“The likelihood is that whoever is responsible for it lives nearby.”

Two men aged 27 and 28 were arrested on June 19 and have been bailed to return to police in August.

Anyone with information should call 020 8721 4054 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
