A stolen car which left a moped rider seriously injured in a hit-and-run was later found abandoned in Forest Hill, police say.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the damaged black Ford Fiesta being abandoned in Lapse Wood Walk on March 29.

At 6.35am that day, police were called to reports of a car in collision with a moped on East Dulwich Road.

Officers and an ambulance attended and the rider of a black Honda moped, a 41-year-old man from Hertfordshire, was taken to hospital suffering leg injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

It is understood the Fiesta left the scene via the Goose Green roundabout onto Lordship Lane heading towards Sydenham.

The car was subsequently reported to police later that same day as having been stolen from an address in Forest Hill.

Anyone that can assist police is asked to call the witness line on 020 8285 1574.
