An Eltham high street pub has survived a licensing hearing following a mass brawl in the street outside.

Police had been called to the Rising Sun in February after a fight broke out in the road and two people were knocked unconscious.

The ward's Councillor Spencer Drury had spoken up for the pub, arguing it was a one-off and any new conditions imposed on the boozer should not be too expensive.

And a licensing review sub-committee this month agreed that there was no history of disorder at the venue.

The committee added a string of new conditions to the pub's licence, including maintaining a comprehensive CCTV system of the pub and the road outside.

Staff must also agree to challenge all punters who appear to be under 25 for some form of identification.
